As Grandma rightly pointed out, the videos on the weblog are a tad small (not to say postage stamp size...) so a lot of detail is lost.
So... this little video is a test to see whether HD video will come out any bigger on the screen.
Hopefully so.

We just can't keep up....
With all the wonderful presents...
6 weeks old and already spoiled beyond salvation.
We simply can't keep up with all the wonderful cards and presents - too much to put on the weblog. Dresses, shoes, clogs, books, toys... we're getting a bit embarrassed.
I must say it's great to get so much mail though... and Joolsie feels very loved.
Here's two more of the lovely presents that Jools was given this week - and are stacked up on the record player before being worn/read/played with/installed/watched/etc...

A lovely wooden bead dummy chain with Joolsie's name on it from Merel, Hester and Jozee

Today we received a package from Antoine and Karen Peters.
Antoine is one of Holland's top young designers, famous for his use of fun and humor in his collections. Legendary are his shows called "Don't turn a mosquito into an elephant", "Fat people are harder to kidnap" and "Turn your frown upside down".
Ingeborg has made a number of spectacular (and much photographed) entrees at fashion week wearing Antoine's dresses.
Now Joolsie can wow her peers in a unique "Sweater for the world" sweater.

Granda Magda
Movie Time
Last saturday, grandma Magda (a.k.a. "Madge" :)) celebrated 40 years of being a nurse.

That means she's the incrowd of the incrowd....
Jimmy Woo is only the hottest nightclub in town ;)
Casper and Cynthia's son, by the way, is called James Rod.

Marjan, Lisemarie, Cathelijne and Ingeborg all gave birth in the same week. Mark, Olivier, Robert-jan and I are still not quite sure what happened there, but... the babies' 1st month birthday was a good enough excuse for a little get together.

A house full of guests
It's so great to realise how many wonderful friends we have, now that everyone pops by to meet Jools.
Today, my favorite fraternity friends Teun & Godert came to visit, with their respective 'better halves' Dick and Leonie (supported by sons Floris and Alexander). Thanks so much for the books, we look forward to loads of bedtime reading fun.
My friend Tessel also came to visit, bringing with a car full of presents : thanks for the suit-saving 'Burp Cloth', book and of course the super cool shoes ! Now daddy and daughter can go out strolling, wearing the same shoes!

Tante Tinus a.k.a. Valentina from the House of Hulsman

My lovely friend Valentina is a famous aromatherapist and Aroma Jockey (that means she mixes up different potions of essential oils which she then evaporates in big vats of bubblling water at big dance events to make the atmosphere warmer, more welcoming, etc.).
Joolsie thought she smelled very nice indeed and had a thouroughly enjoyable snooze on her lap.
Her company is called House of Hulsman and she makes custom-made bath oils, perfumes, massage lotions and therapeutic salves.

Ivar is a good friend from secondary school. He lives in Kodak-country (fields, traditional green wooden houses, windmills and clogs) to the north of town with his girlfriend Danielle. They bought Jools these wonderful pink, purple, yellow, blue and white Nike DUNKs.... they're cooler than my own!!!!
Their house is one of those super stylish homes you see in magazines: from their bedroom they have a clear view over fields for miles. Fortunately, they seem to enjoy slumming it ;) at our place too.
Ivar is beyond cool: he (bass player...) and his band the Rare Groove Orchestra played at the North Sea Jazz festival...

Superlative Craftsmanship
We've been totally spoilt already...
Jools, Ing and I have been totally swamped with presents.
But sometimes the postman brings us something extra extra special, as he did this morning.
My cousin Jessica from England made Jools a beautiful tapestry of the sun, a cloud, a rainbow and a shower of little diamonds, with a little plant that grows below (with a little J for JOOLS budding from one of its branches).
I can't imagine how much time this must have taken, besides of course the skill, style and determination to finish it.
Thanks Jess! It's absolutely lovely. We'll frame it and hang it in Jools's room!

Full credit to parents that keep 3-child households fun & organised. We thought one baby was a hand full, but when Viktor and his kids came by, we found out that we were lightweights...
